Don has had a 35-year career in Atlantic Canada manufacturing. He has helped build, run, and improve factories in his long career with a well-established fast-paced, innovative, Atlantic Canadian company, Maritime Paper Products Limited.

Don began his career as an Industrial Engineer at Maritime Paper in Dartmouth and then moved to Saint John, NB with the same firm to be the project manager of a large-scale factory expansion. After the construction was completed, he became the Production Manager of the new facility. Five years later he moved back to the head office in Dartmouth where he became Director of Engineering for the corporation. In this role he was part of the Senior Management team that ran a four-plant enterprise.

Shortly after retiring in 2017 Don returned to the work force as a Lean facilitator. In this role he has been successful at helping clients make the transformation to Lean operations. Don enjoys the process of helping transfer some of the knowledge he obtained working with a large company to his smaller clients.

Don’s skill is his ability to work with all people in an organization. He enjoys spending time on the floor and in the Board room. He respects people and values their input. Working in a unionized environment for 35 years Don has learned that if people have the same information as you, they will most likely make the same decisions as you.

Don obtained his Industrial Engineering degree from Dalhousie University and is a registered Professional Engineer.
