Reporting to the CFO, our client is seeking to fill the full-time position of Controller.  You are pleasant and outgoing which enables you to connect well with people.  You are self-motivated, enjoy working as a team member but can also function well on your own.  You thrive in a busy environment during a time of change and growth which allows your skills to shine.

Qualifications

  • This position entails the preparation of monthly financial statements – ensuring accurate and timely month end cut off
  • Aid the completion of year end procedures and analysis of financial statements and accounts
  • Provide monthly analysis of revenues and expenses, preparation of account reconciliations and monthly journal entries. Compile and analyze cost information such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions to recommend entries to accounts.
  • Perform statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates and significant changes, and writes narrative reports explaining findings;
  • Develop budget variance analysis;
  • Maintain manufacturing and overhead cost analysis
  • Guide cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; provide trends and forecasts; explain processes and techniques; and recommend actions
  • Reconcile banking transactions and perform cash flow management
  • Reviewing monthly billing invoices for clients;
  • Reviewing supplier invoices for appropriate documentation and coding;
  • Preparation of monthly Profit and Loss statement and account analysis
  • Heavy participation in the budgeting process and forecasts
  • Assistance with preparation of tax filings, internal and external audits
  • Aid in the preparation of various internal financial reports for management
  • Assist with special projects
  • Implementation of processes to ensure accurate accounting information and adherence to accounting principles
  • As the successful candidate, you must possess excellent communication skills and be motivated to provide superior professional service to all clients and leadership to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll for several subsidiary companies
  • Superior organizational and multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Proactive, with the ability to learn quickly, effective time management skills, adaptable and open to change
  • Minimal travel is required

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce
  • CPA, CA, CGA, CMA or enrollment in the program combined with experience is preferred
  • Multiple company financial reporting experience
  • Strong time management and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products particularly with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Preference will be given to those with accounting experience of medium sized manufacturing or food processing industry.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and lead a team through a time of ambiguity and change
  • Bilingualism would be an asset but not a requirement.
  • Experience with accounting software required.
